Summary: "Excellent -"

I got this lock 'second-hand' so to speak - the original Kryptonite bike lock was recalled because of problems with thieves defeating it with a ball-point pen cap (or something similar), and this was the replacement. Have had it for years, never a problem. The longer loop makes it easier to reach secure places a bit further away and harder to get to; I use it just at home, inside a garage that is closed and locked at night. The 'bad news' is that I gave up on trying to carry it with on my bicycle - the holding clip got loose, and it wasn't possible to lock both the frame and the front wheel. So I use a cable and key lock when leaving home.

Summary: "Sturdy Item: good buy"

i bought this item slightly hesitant because it was a key and lock method instead of a combination but it turned out to be a good buy. it has held up so well so far and feels very sturdy and would be extremely difficult to break off

Summary: "Fits well around wider poles"

Overall a nice lock, but the locking mechanism is a little finicky. I chose this model because the inner diameter would fit around the larger pole that I lock my bike to at work.

Summary: "Heavy, solid lock"

So far this lock has been great for a suburban environment. I bought a steel cable along with it to make my bike more secure but I'm finding that (at least in Central New Jersey) this U-lock can do the job on its own. My only complaint is that the bike mount it comes with is just un-usable on my bike. It takes so much effort to mount and unmount it that it's not worth it - I just keep it in my backpack and pull it out when I need.

Summary: "B+ on lock, F on Mounting Bracket"

I have had a Kryptonite lock before and liked it a lot, unfortunately, I left my bike at my parents house and they lost the lock. Don't ask me how, I have no idea. I decided to replace it with a similar lock hoping it would fit into the same mounting bracket I had previously. This was not the case. I removed the old one and started to install the "ez-mount" bracket. The name only spurred my anger after 30mins of unsuccessfully trying to install it. You may think I am one of those people that doesn't read the directions and that is why I could not install it, wrong!! I always read every step of directions and am one of those weird people that enjoys putting things together (the exception of this bracket). After an hour of trying to tighten the bracket around my bike with my hands I decided to use the force of screwdriver to force it to tighten. This I do not recommend, I ended up stabbing myself with the screwdriver and having to stop due to my bleeding hand. The next day I tried again, minus the screwdriver, and was eventually able to tighten it, however, it still does not work as well as my old mount. If mounting you lock is important to you, I would look in to another lock. But if you just want a good lock then I think this is a good purchase.
